The Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners meet Friday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Seattle Mariners vs Texas Rangers Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Texas Rangers will start Andrew Heaney and Heaney is 2-7 with a 4.06 ERA and 58 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Mariners, Heaney is 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA and 30 strikeouts. Luis Castillo will get the start for the Mariners and is 5-7 with a 3.35 ERA and 85 strikeouts this season. In his career, Castillo is 1-3 with a 4.35 ERA and 25 strikeouts against the Rangers.

Texas Rangers Recap

The Texas Rangers will look to build some momentum after winning Thursday’s rubber match in their series with the Dodgers by a final score of 3-1. The series win for Texas helped the Rangers rebound from series losses against the Giants and Tigers over the last week and a half.

Rangers Still Looking For Offense Despite Wins

Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 71 hits along with 13 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 13 home runs and 40 RBIs with 10 doubles as well as 5 stolen bases. Evan Carter also has 5 home runs with 15 RBIs while Jonah Heim has 6 homers and 31 RBIs and Josh Smith also has a team-high 16 doubles. Corey Seager also has a team-high 14 home runs with 33 RBIs of his own this season.

Why the Texas Rangers will win

  • The Rangers have won each of their last five road games after playing the previous day.
  • The Rangers have covered the run line each of their last six road games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight night games against American League opponents.
  • The Rangers have led after 5 innings in each of their last four road games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.

Seattle Mariners Recap

The Seattle Mariners come into this one looking to bounce back after failing to complete the sweep of the White Sox following a 3-2 loss in Thursday’s series finale. The Mariners still managed to win the series though, bouncing back from their series loss against the Kansas City Royals the series prior, last weekend.

Mariners Trying To Find Their Bats As Well

Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 75 hits including a .268 batting average and also has 6 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 12 home runs along with 42 RBIs while Jorge Polanco has 5 home runs with 14 RBIs and Raleigh has a team-high 84 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 6 home runs and 30 RBIs while Rodriguez has a team-high 16 stolen bases and 84 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore and Ty France each have a team-high 11 doubles also this season.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The Mariners have won each of their last 14 games against the Rangers following a home loss.
  • The Rangers have lost 12 of their last 13 games against the Mariners following a road win.
  • The Rangers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last five games against AL West opponents.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in five of their last six night games after going to extra innings.
  • The Mariners have led after 3 innings in each of their last three games against the Rangers.
  • The Mariners have won the first inning in each of their last three games against the Rangers.

Seattle Mariners vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I’m on the Mariners here. I’ll admit it is impressive that the Rangers managed to take 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, but the Dodgers also shot themselves in the foot a ton in that series. The Rangers are going to have a hard time winning games scoring 2 or 3 runs in a game, especially if Andrew Heaney is the starter. Sure, Heaney’s pitched well in some of his recent outings, but he’s a pitcher normally good for 3-4 runs allowed in a start and I don’t think he’ll be able to match zeroes consistently with Luis Castillo here. I’ll take the Mariners at the reasonable price.
