The United States and Japan face off on Tuesday in the Olympic gold medal game for softball. The United States went 5-0 during the preliminary round while Japan went 4-1.

Japan and the US faced off on Sunday, and it was the United States that we’re able to win 2-1. The star for the United States was Kelsey Stewart who hit the walk-off home run. Before that home run, Stewart only had one hit in the Olympics. The United States is now the home team for this game because of that victory. There are some concerns heading into this game about the Typhoon heading towards Japan. If this game ends up being canceled the United States might claim the gold medal by default.

The United States has been dominant in the playoffs, and so far they have scored nine runs total while giving up only two. It’s a bit odd that the United States offense hasn’t been elite, but they have leaned on the elite pitching to find success. In this game it’s unclear who is going to start on the mound, but it could be Ally Carda who has always found a lot of success against Japan.

On the other side of this matchup is Japan who went 4-1 during the preliminary round with the only loss coming against the USA. Japan on the season has scored 18 runs total while giving up only five runs. This is an offense that has been more impressive, but Japan struggled to get runs across the plate against the United States. When they have runners in scoring positions, they had issues

I expect both teams are going to struggle to score in this game, and that is going to lead to this game staying well under the total. Back the under. It’s also a lean for the United States to win this game on the run line at plus money.
