In this article we will formulate a Texas Rangers vs Seattle Mariners prediction for this MLB game on Thursday, April 25th at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in this series.

Can Texas Get a Series Win?

The Texas Rangers are 13-12 this year and they have lost three of their last five games. Texas lost game one in this series, but they did win game two by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday. Prior to this series, the Rangers lost two out of three against the Braves and won three out of four against the Tigers. Texas has only won one of their last five series, so they could really use a victory here. The Rangers are currently first in the AL West, but they are just one game above .500.

The Texas pitching staff has a 4.05 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and a .222 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 119 runs with a .251 batting average and a .325 on base percentage. Adolis Garcia is batting .312 with seven home runs and 23 RBI’s for the Rangers this year. Texas is 10th in the MLB in runs scored and their offense normally does a very consistent job, but their pitching staff is just 18th in team ERA and 20th in team WHIP on the year.

Seattle Goes for Their Third Straight Series Win

The Seattle Mariners are 12-12 this season and they have won six of their last eight games. Seattle won the first game in this series by a score of 4-0 on Tuesday night, but their offense went cold on Wednesday in game two. Prior to this series. Seattle won two out of three against Colorado and swept the Reds (outscored them 17-5 in three games). Seattle is playing much better baseball than they were to start the season and their offense is starting to come around. The Mariners are currently second in the AL West, just a half game behind Texas for first.

The Seattle pitching staff has a 3.33 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and a .221 opponent batting average. The Mariners offense has scored 89 runs with a .227 batting average and a .312 on base percentage. Julio Rodriguez is batting .266 with one home run and 10 RBI’s for the Mariners this year. Like I said above, the Seattle offense is starting to get going, as they have scored at least four runs in five of their last eight games. The Mariners are only 5-6 on the road, but they have won three of their last five road games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Andrew Heaney, who is 0-2 with a 6.35 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP over 17.0 innings pitched this year. Heaney has allowed three earned runs or fewer in three of his first four starts but he has only lasted five innings one time. Seattle is slated to start Luis Castillo, who is 1-4 with a 4.40 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP over 28.2 innings pitched this year. Castillo started the season with three straight starts of allowing four earned runs, but he has allowed two earned runs and nine hits over 13.0 innings in his last two.

Texas Rangers Team Facts

  • The Rangers have won seven of their last eight games as home underdogs against the Mariners following a home win.
  • The Rangers have covered the run line in 15 of their last 16 games as home underdogs following a home win.
  • The Rangers have lost the first inning in each of their last three games against AL West opponents.
  • The Rangers have led after 7 innings in 14 of their last 18 games as underdogs against American League opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rangers’ last five games against AL West opponents.

Seattle Mariners Team Facts

  • The Mariners have lost each of their last eight games as road favorites against the Rangers following a road loss.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight games as road favorites against the Rangers following a road loss.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Mariners’ last three games.
  • The Mariners have led after 3 innings in each of their last three games.
  • The Mariners have trailed after 5 innings in three of their last four games as favorites against American League opponents.

Texas Rangers vs Seattle Mariners Prediction

Both of these teams come into this game looking for the series win, as they have split the first two games in the series. Despite neither team having a great record, this is an early season battle for first in the AL West. Texas has the much better lineup in my opinion, but I don’t think either team has an edge on starting pitching in this matchup. Castillo has struggled this season, but he has at least looked better in his last two starts. Heaney hasn’t been able to eat up many innings so far this year and I don’t see him having much success here. My Texas Rangers vs Seattle Mariners prediction is for the Mariners to pick up the road win.
