In this article we will formulate a Texas Rangers vs Washington Nationals prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, May 1st at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in this series.

Rangers Look for Three Straight

The Texas Rangers are 16-14 this year and they have won two games in a row and three of their last four. Texas won game one in this series by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday night. Prior to this series, the Rangers won two out of three against the Reds and lost two out of three against the Mariners. Texas hasn’t been able to string many wins together recently, but they are second in the AL West, just one game behind Seattle.

The Texas pitching staff has a 3.84 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and a .214 opponent batting average. The Rangers offense has scored 139 runs with a .250 batting average and a .318 on base percentage. Adolis Garcia is batting .292 with eight home runs and 25 RBI’s for the Rangers this year. Texas is 13th in the MLB for team ERA, but they are only 14th in runs scored, which is much lower than their lineup should be at.

Nationals are Battling

The Washington Nationals are 14-15 this season and they have won four of their last five games. Washington dropped game one in this series, but they did sweep the Marlins in four games over the weekend. Prior to that series sweep, the Nationals were swept by the Dodgers and won two out of three against the Astros. Washington is just one game below .500 this season and they are fourth in the NL East, behind the Braves, Phillies, and Mets.

The Washington pitching staff has a 4.31 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and a .277 opponent batting average. The Nationals offense has scored 118 runs with a .233 batting average and a .312 on base percentage. CJ Abrams is batting .295 with seven home runs and 17 RBI’s for the Nationals this year. Washington has done a good job of hanging around the .500 mark, but they are just 21st in the MLB in runs scored and 22nd in team ERA.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Texas is Andrew Heaney, who is 0-3 with a 6.26 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP over 23.0 innings pitched this year. Heaney has been very inconsistent with his pitching this season and he has allowed 15 earned runs in his last four starts (18.1 IP). Heaney has struck out at least five in three of his last five starts, but has also allowed at least four hits in four of his last five. The projected starting pitcher for Washington is Trevor Williams, who is 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP over 26.2 innings pitched this year. Williams has allowed one earned run or fewer in three of his last four starts.

Texas Rangers vs Washington Nationals Prediction

Texas comes into this game after picking up a win in game one of this series and they will look to string a third win together here. The Rangers have had some issues early in this season, but no one has been able to separate in the AL West. Washington had a nice sweep over the Marlins over the weekend, and they are 10-7 on the road. Trevor Williams has been fantastic for the Nationals and he has been much more consistent than Heaney for the Rangers. My Texas Rangers vs Washington Nationals prediction is for the Nationals to pick up the win on the road.
