In this article we will formulate a Washington Nationals vs LA Dodgers prediction for this MLB game on Wednesday, April 24th at Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in this series.

The Nationals Try to Bounce Back

The Washington Nationals are 10-12 this season and they have split their last 10 games. Washington dropped game one of this series by a score of 4-1, but they did win the previous series against Houston. Prior to that series win, the Nationals won two out of three against the Dodgers. Washington may be two games below .500 on the season, but they have shown their ability to compete with some of the best teams in baseball.

The Washington pitching staff has a 4.15 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and a .268 opponent batting average. The Nationals offense has scored 81 runs with a .237 batting average and a .317 on base percentage. CJ Abrams is batting .316 with six home runs and 12 RBI’s for the Nationals. This Washington team doesn’t have flashy stats so far this season and they aren’t great with their pitching staff, but they have done enough to beat some very good teams in recent matchups. The Nationals are towards the bottom of the MLB in runs scored, but they have scored at least five runs in four of their last eight games.

Dodgers Look for Three In a Row

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 14-11 this year and they have won two games in a row. LA has struggled over their last 11 games, but they were able to win game one of this series on Tuesday night. The Dodgers won game three against the Mets by a score of 10-0, but they lost two out of those three games. Prior to the series loss against the Mets, LA dropped two out of three to this Washington team. The Dodgers are three games above .500 so far this year, but they have struggled for the amount of talent that they have. Los Angeles needs to figure out their pitching staff, as the offense has been very good.

The LA pitching staff has a 4.00 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a .226 opponent batting average. The Dodgers’ offense has scored 128 runs with a .259 batting average and a .344 on base percentage. Mookie Betts is batting .347 with six home runs and 19 RBI’s for the Dodgers this year. There is no question that the LA lineup is one of the best in baseball and they are top five in runs scored. Betts, Freeman, and Ohtani are some of the best hitters in baseball, but they need more consistent pitching.

Starting Pitchers for Today’s Matchup

Let’s take a look at who is on the mound for each team today. Washington is starting Jake Irvin, who is 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over 23.0 innings pitched this year. Irvin has allowed one earned run and five hits over his last two starts (12.0 IP), but did allow seven earned runs in his first two outings. LA is going with Landon Knack, who is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over 5.0 innings pitched this season. Knack allowed two earned runs and four hits over 5.0 innings pitched against the Nationals in his first start. I don’t love either starting pitcher in this matchup, but you have to think Irvin is the better option out of the two.

Washington Nationals vs LA Dodgers Prediction

The Dodgers come into this matchup after winning game one on Tuesday and they are looking to put together a rare three game winning streak with a win here. Washington is only 4-6 at home this year and while they have put up some crooked numbers recently, I can’t rely on them to keep scoring at this pace. I do think Washington has the better starting pitcher and he pitched very well against the Dodgers in his last start, but I think the LA lineup will get pay back here. My Washington Nationals vs LA Dodgers prediction is a Dodgers win by at least two runs.
