The Dallas Mavericks travel to the Orlando to face the Magic in prime time NBA action.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 7-0 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Orlando while the road team is 14-2 ATS in the last 16 meetings and underdog is 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings. The Magic are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference, but just 7-17 ATS in their last 24 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Mavericks on the other hand are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 0 days rest, 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 38-18 ATS in their last 56 games overall.
Surprised that the Dallas Mavericks are only a two and a half point favorite over the Orlando Magic tonight, well don't be. The Mavericks have really struggled on the road in the early stages of the season, winning just the once in five attempts following their 110-104 defeat in Miami last night. Dallas is averaging 106.4 points per game on the season, which is the fifth best number in the league, but just 100.2 on the road. To be fair, four of their games away from home have come against some of the elite teams in basketball in Houston, Oklahoma City, Minnesota and Miami.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic are 4-1 at home this season following their 94-91 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. The Magic did snap their three-game losing streak over the Bucks, but they have been rock solid at home so far this season. Before their home loss to Boston, they were a perfect 3-0 with wins over Los Angeles (Clippers,) Brooklyn and New Orleans by an average of 16.3 points per game.
Despite everything I just said, I like the Mavericks in this one. While their numbers on the road aren't great, you just have to look at who they have played. In the only game they were favored in, they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 91-83 and that was also after coming off a loss the night before in Minnesota.
I quite like this Orlando team, but they are getting a pretty good Mavs squad off a loss, which I don't like. Dallas should bounce back with a victory tonight...
