The Toronto Raptors pay a visit to the Phoenix Suns at the Phoenix Suns Arena on Wednesday night.

The Toronto Raptors haven’t been able to get their season going as they’ve lost five of their first six games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Bucks in a 126-114 home loss on Monday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 35 points on 13 of 20 shooting, Pascal Siakam added 22 points while Kyle Lowry chipped in with 18 points and five assists. As a team, the Raptors shot just 40 percent from the field and 13 of 37 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Celtics early to lead by 13 points, before getting destroyed in the second quarter where the Celtics outscored them by 38-14 which had them trailing the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in great shape so far as they’ve won five of their first seven games, but they are looking to bounce back here after falling just short to the Clippers in a 112-107 home loss on Sunday. Devin Booker led the team with 25 points and eight assists, DeAndre Ayton added 24 points on nine of 12 shooting while Chris Paul and Dario Saric each scored 15 points. As a team, the Suns shot 49 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they just left themselves too much work to do after a slow start saw them trail by 64-44 at halftime.

Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Suns are 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a losing record, 8-1 ATS in their last nine home games and 15-3 ATS in their last 18 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Phoenix, the Raptors are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings in Phoenix and the Raptors are 7-20-1 ATS in the last 28 meetings overall.

The Raptors have virtually the same roster as last season, but that hasn’t seemed to help them as they’ve been poor to start the season. The Suns are coming into this one off a bad loss, but they were one of the hottest teams in the league up until that point, so I’m expecting the Suns to come out on top here. The Raptors are 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the Suns pile on the hurt with a win here.
