The Washington Wizards travel to the Moda Center to take on the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in decent form lately as they’ve won four of their last six games and they will be aiming for a season-high fourth straight victory after outlasting the Nuggets in a 130-128 home win on Wednesday. Davis Bertans led the team with 35 points on nine of 11 shooting from the 3-point line, Bradley Beal added 25 points with 10 assists while Russell Westbrook racked up a triple-double of 12 points with 13 rebounds and 12 assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 51 percent from the field and 15 of 33 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 20-point deficit with 46 points in the second quarter, before escaping with the narrow win as Beal drained the game-winning free throws with just 0.1 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers have been one of the hottest teams in the league as they’ve won eight of their past nine games and they will be looking to build on their current six-game win streak after taking down the Pelicans in a 126-124 road win on Wednesday. Damian Lillard led the team with 43 points and 16 assists on 14 of 28 shooting, Gary Trent Jr added 23 points while Derrick Jones Jr. chipped in with 13 points on six of eight shooting. As a team, the Trailblazers shot 51 percent from the field and 18 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled early and fell behind by 15 points in the first half, before escaping with the win behind a clutch layup and free throw from Lillard.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games as a road underdog. The Trailblazers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, 5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on two days’ rest and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings overall and the Wizards are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Wizards have suddenly come to life with three wins on the trot after a horror start to the season, but they’ve run into Trailblazers who are playing some of their best basketball of the season thanks to Lillard who is having a season worthy of MVP conversation. The Wizards are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Trailblazers stay red-hot with another win behind another big game from Lillard.
