The Dallas Mavericks travel to the Crypto.com Arena to battle the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall, but they will be feeling a little better after putting a halt to a three-game skid with a 137-128 overtime road win over the Spurs on Wednesday. Christian Wood led the team in scoring with 28 points, 13 rebounds and three assists off the bench, Dwight Powell and Jaden Hardy scored 22 points each while Josh Green tallied 21 points with seven assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 51 percent from the field and 17 of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled for most of the game, before they rallied back from a nine-point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime where they held the Spurs to just seven points to escape with the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have been in great form as they’ve won four of their last six games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after falling short to the lowly Rockets in a disappointing 114-110 road loss on Wednesday. Austin Reaves led the team in scoring with 24 points and seven assists off the bench, D’Angelo Russell added 18 points with seven assists while Malik Beasley and Dennis Schroder scored 16 points apiece. As a team, the Lakers shot just 37 percent from the field and 11 of 44 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to trail by 18 points early, before they rallied with 36 points in the fourth quarter to fall just short in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 6-21-1 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record, 9-24-1 ATS in their last 34 games following a win and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings in Los Angeles and the Mavericks are 6-1-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Mavericks are shorthanded again as Luka Doncic is out, while Kyrie Irving, JaVale McGee and Tim Hardaway Jr are all questionable. The Lakers are still missing LeBron James, but the good news is that they should have Anthony Davis back in the lineup. The Mavericks were able to earn an overtime win over the Spurs in their last outing despite missing a bunch of key players, but I don’t see that happening against the Lakers who have been playing some of their best basketball of the season. This should be a close one, but the Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and I think they get the job done in this spot.
