The Dallas Mavericks have been in decent form as they’ve split their last eight games and they will be eager to build some momentum after outlasting the Lakers in a 104-101 road win on Wednesday. Luka Doncic led the team with 30 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, Kyrie Irving added 28 points while Josh Green chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 39 percent from the field and 16 of 50 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Lakers in the first half to build a 20-point lead, only to go ice-cold and score just 13 points in the fourth quarter to almost lose in the end. Grant Williams had a rough night as he scored just six points on two of nine shooting while Tim Hardaway Jr. scored just seven points on two of 10 shooting.

Paul George is leading the team with averages of 24.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game, Kawhi Leonard is averaging 21.4 points and 3.5 assists per game, while Russell Westbrook is averaging 12.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. As a team, the Clippers are scoring an average of 113.2 points per game while shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 37.0 percent from the 3-point line.

The Mavericks are still a little shorthanded with Maxi Kleber still out, while the Clippers are still missign Brandon Boston Jr. The Mavericks haven’t exactly been setting the world on fire with their play and they almost lost to the Lakers after leading by 20 points, but they are still the favorites compared to the Clippers who still look like a work in progress despite all their talent in the starting lineup. The Mavericks are playing the better basketball at the moment with Irving and Doncic both playing well and they have the advantage of extra rest as they haven’t played since Wednesday compared to the Clippers who are playing their second game of a back to back set. This should be close, but I like the Mavericks to get the job done in the end.
