The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 6 at the Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies will be hoping to stave off elimination once again after blowing past the Lakers in a 116-99 win in Game 5 on Wednesday. Desmond Bane led the team with 33 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, Ja Morant added 31 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists while Jaren Jackson Jr chipped in with 18 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 38 points in the first quarter ot storm out to an early double-digit lead, before they poured in another 33 points in the third quarter to push the lead out to 25 points at one stage. Dillon Brooks had a rough game as he finished with just eight points on three of 15 shooting and the Grizzlies had just three players finish in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to bounce back in this one after getting thrashed by the Grizzlies on Wednesday. Anthony Davis led the team with 31 points and 19 rebounds on 14 of 23 shooting, Austin Reaves added 17 points with eight rebounds and six assists while LeBron James tallied 15 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Lakers shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 39 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Grizzlies off to a flyer and just never gained any traction until the game was out of reach. James had a rough game as he shot just five of 17 from the field while no bench player finished in double figures in scoring.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the under is 17-5-1 in the last 23 meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles and the Grizzlies are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Lakers failed hte match the intensity and desperation of the Grizzlies in Game 5 and it cost them as they were never able to recover after falling behind early. The Grizzlies came out guns blazing to keep their season alive on Wednesday and they’ll have to do it again, but it won’t be so easy at the Crypto.com Arena with a road crowd. The Grizzlies are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Los Angeles and I think that trend continues here as the Lakers take control early and grind out the win to advance to the second round.
