The Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies duke it out at the FedExForum on Monday night.
The Miami Heat are starting to turn things around now as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the league-leading Celtics in a 120-116 overtime road win on Friday. Bam Adebayo led the way with 28 points on 10 of 18 shooting, Tyler Herro added 26 points, Jimmy Butler racked up 25 points with 15 rebounds while Kyle Lowry chipped in with 20 points. As a team, the Raptors shot 47 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 13-point deficit to force overtime where they held the Celtics to just six points to earn the impressive win.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won four of their last five games and they will be gunning for a third straight win after beating the Pistons in a 122-112 road win last night. Ja Morant led the team with 33 points and 10 assists on 12 of 23 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr and Dillon Brooks each scored 22 points while Brandon Clarke chipped in with 14 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to open an early lead which ballooned to 22 points in the third quarter before they took their foot off the gas.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. The Grizzlies are 37-18 ATS in their last 55 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Heat are still dealing with a list of injuries including Gabe Vincent, Jimmy Butler and Dewayne Dedmon who are all questionable, while the Grizzlies will again be missing Desmond Bane and Steven Adams. It’s understandable why the Grizzlies have opened as favorites at home as the Heat have been anything but consistent all season, but the Heat looked great in their overtime win over the Celtics and I think that will get them out of their funk. Both teams are banged up here, so you can make an argument for either side, but in what should be a close one, I’ll lean with the Grizzlies who are 37-18 ATS in their last 55 home games.
