The Los Angeles Clippers and the Minnesota Timberwolves do battle in the NBA Play-In game at the Target Center on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have had to endure an injury-riddled season, but they are coming into this game with plenty of confidence as they reeled off six wins in their last seven games to get to this point. Reggie Jackson has been forced to pick up the slack for his injured teammates and he led the way with averages of 16.8 points and 4.8 assists per game, Marcus Morris averaged 15.4 points, Luke Kennard averaged 11.9 points while Paul George averaged 24.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists in the 31 games that he played. As a team, the Clippers scored an average of 108.4 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in pretty good form as they won 14 of their last 21 games overall and they will be feeling pretty confident as they are just about at full strength for this important game. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with averages of 24.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game, Anthony Edwards averaged 21.3 points while D’Angelo Russell averaged 18.1 points and 7.1 assists per game. As a team, the Timberwolves scored an average of 115.9 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog, 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. The Timberwolves are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in Minnesota, the Clippers are 15-6-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings in Minnesota and the Clippers are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Clippers were able to get Paul George and Norman Powell back in the lineup which has been a major boost for the team, but they could be without Luke Kennard who is questionable with hamstring soreness here. The Timberwolves are coming into this one with the luxury of not having a single player listed on the injury report and they have home-court advantage which is so important in this high-stakes game. You can make an argument for either side here, but the Clippers are 15-6-1 ATS in the last 22 meetings in Minnesota and they beat the Timberwolves by 3-1 in the regular season, so I’ll take LA in this spot.
