The Miami Heat travel to the Paycom Center to do battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games, but they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Jazz in a 111-105 road win on Saturday. Tyler Herro led the team with 27 points, Duncan Robinson drained six 3-pointers on his way to 22 points, Kyle Lowry scored 21 points while PJ Tucker and Bam Adebayo each scored 13 points. As a team, the Heat shot 49 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to take a 10-point lead into halftime, before exploding for 37 points in the third quarter to lead by 27 points which turned out to be just enough as Jazz got to within four points with 14.9 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their past eight games, but they will be eager to bounce back after having their four-game win streak halted by the Nets in a 120-96 home loss last night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring with 23 points on eight of 14 shooting, Luguentz Dort added 20 points on eight of 11 shooting while Ty Jerome chipped in with 11 points off the bench, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Thunder shot 40 percent from the field and 14 of 45 from the 3-point line as they hardly threatened after falling behind by 13 points at halftime. Josh Giddey has been great for the Thunder this season, but he finished with just six points on two of 10 shooting while Darius Bazley finished with just five points on two of 13 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The Thunder are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the under is 11-4 in the last 15 meetings overall, the Heat are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Oklahoma City and the Heat are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Thunder sprung to life with four straight wins before getting stopped in their tracks by the red-hot Nets last night, so they will be quietly confident about their chances of an upset here. The Heat were struggling for a five-game stretch but they will be full of confidence after beating the Jazz in their own building on Saturday. Jimmy Butler is listed as questionable for this one with an ankle sprain, but I’m sticking with the Heat to take advantage of a Thunder team playing on zero days’ rest here.
