The Portland Trail Blazers travel to the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night in NBA action.

Portland Trail Blazers Betting Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers are hoping to avoid a third straight defeat to start the season after coming up short against the Magic in a 102-97 loss at home on Friday. Shaedon Sharpe led the team with 24 points, Jerami Grant added 14 points, DeAndre Ayton tallied 14 points with 15 rebounds while Malcolm Brogdon chipped in with 18 points off the bench. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 39 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they held the Magic to just 19 points in the third quarter to stay in the contest, until they went cold and managed just 17 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Magic to slip away in the end.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to build some momentum after taking down the Raptors in a 114-107 road win last night. Joel Embiid led the team with 34 points, nine rebounds and eight assists on 14 of 21 shooting, Tyrese Maxey added 23 points with seven rebounds and seven assists, Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 18 points off the bench while Tobias chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 28 from the 3-point line as they shook off a sluggish start and dominated the third quarter by 35-20 to turn a 12-point deficit into a 14-point lead going into the fourth.

Peter’s Pick

The Trail Blazers are still missing Anfernee Simons and Ish Wainright, while the 76ers will likely be missing James Harden once again. The Trail Blazers showed up with a much better collective effort against the Magic on Friday and they were close to pulling off the upset, but I don’t see that happening against this 76ers team. Yes, the 76ers are playing on zero days’ rest, but this is the start of the season, so I’m sticking with the more talented 76ers to take care of business at home.

Joe Hall's Free Pick: Philadelphia -9.5
