The Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings collide at the Golden 1 Center on Saturday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers will have their eyes set on their second win of the season after outlasting the Lakers in a 103-97 road win on Thursday. Paul George led the team with 15 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, John Wall added 15 points of the bench while Marcus Morris and Ivica Zubac each scored 14 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 46 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to take the early 16-point lead, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing as they had to regroup after the Lakers rallied to take the lead in the third quarter. Kawhi Leonard scored just 14 points in his 21 minutes of action while Reggie Jackson scored just eight points on three of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings are searching for their first win of the season after coming up short against the Trail Blazers in a 115-108 loss on Wednesday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Kevin Huerter drained six 3-pointers to add 23 points while Domantas Sabonis chipped in with 13 points and five assists. As a team, the Kings shot 45 percent from the field and 17 of 44 from the 3-point line as they poured in 32 points in the second quarter to take the lead going into halftime, but their defense let them down in the second half where they allowed 64 points to end up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. Davion Mitchell had a night to forget as he scored just two points on one of eight shooting in 26 minutes off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a losing record and 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400. The Kings are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall, the Clippers are 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and the Clippers are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Sacramento.
The Clippers were good enough to get past the Lakers on opening night, but they are going to be shorthanded in this one as John Wall and Kawhi Leonard are both listed as out on the injury report. The Kings are just about at full strength for this one, so this is a good chance for them to pull off the upset, but the Clippers are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings in Sacramento and I think that trend continues here. The line is tempting, but I’m sticking with the shorthanded Clippers to get the job done.
