The Toronto Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs duke it out at the AT&T Center on Wednesday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in poor form as they’ve lost seven of their past 10 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after coming up short against the Cavaliers in a 104-96 road loss on Sunday. Pascal Siakam led the team with 24 points, Chris Boucher added 21 points on eight of 13 shooting while Scottie Barnes and Gary Trent Jr. each scored 19 points. As a team, the Raptors shot just 39 percent from the field and a miserly six of 24 from the 3-point line as they fought hard to cut a 13-point halftime deficit to just one point late in the third quarter, before the Cavaliers took the game away with a decisive 20-3 run to snatch the game from them in the end.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in decent shape as they’ve split their last 10 games and they will be looking to build some momentum after stopping a four-game skid with a 117-110 home win over the Lakers on Monday. Dejounte Murray led the team with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, Jakob Poeltl and Josh Richardson each scored 18 points while Keldon Johnson chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Spurs shot 54 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, but they regrouped and went on a decisive 17-9 run to pull away and escape with the narrow victory in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on two days’ rest, 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall, the Raptors are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio and the Raptors are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Raptors will again be without OG Anunoby and Malachi Flynn while Fred VanVleet is listed as questionable with knee soreness. The Spurs have ruled out Romeo Langford and Keita Bates-Diop, but Lonnie Walker and Devin Vassell look set to return. You couldn’t bet on either team with much confidence these days, but the Spurs have been a little more consistent lately and they just took down the Lakers on Monday. The Raptors are only 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall, so I’m leaning towards the Spurs in a close one.
