The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Utah Jazz at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in a bit of a rut lately as they lost five of seven games before having Wednesday’s game against the Suns postponed due to health and safety precautions. In Monday’s 112-94 win over the 76ers, Trae Young led the way with 26 points and eight assists, Brandon Goodwin added 15 points and four assists off the bench while DeAndre Hunter chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds. As a team, the hawks shot just 37 percent from the field and 17 of 44 from the 3-point line which doesn’t blow you away, but they did all of their work in the second and third quarters where they outscored the 76ers by a combined 69-33 to lead by as many as 35 points.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz are in a similar situation as they too had their last game postponed, but they will be looking to build on a three-game win streak after blowing past the Cavaliers in a 117-87 road win on Tuesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 27 points on nine of 15 shooting, Jordan Clarkson added 21 points off the bench while Bojan Bogdanovic chipped in with 20 points on six of 10 shooting. As a team, the Jazz shot 50 percent from the field and a sizzling 24 of 45 from the 3-point line as they held the Cavaliers to just 36 points the first half, before exploding for 38 points in the third quarter to blow the lead out.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Jazz are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 8-23-2 ATS in their last 33 games as a favorite and 5-2 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Utah and the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Hawks will be feeling better after snapping out of their funk with a big win over the 76ers, but it’s hard to get too excited about that one as they were heavily favored against the 76ers who were missing almost all of their best players. The Jazz have been a little more convincing as they’ve won three straight and given the modest line, I think they can get the cover at home in this one.
