The San Francisco 49ers (2-0) meet the Green Bay Packers (1-1) in Week 3 NFL action at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is at 8:20p Eastern. Both teams are fresh off a win coming into this game and hoping to build momentum.

The Green Bay Packers will be looking to build on their 35-17 win over the Detroit Lions from Monday night football. Aaron Rodgers threw for 255 yards and 4 touchdowns on 22 of 27 passing while Aaron Jones rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown as well. Davante Adams had a team-high 8 receptions for 121 yards while Robert Tonyan had 3 catches for 52 yards with a TD. The aforementioned Jones also added 6 catches out of the backfield for 48 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns. Defensively, De’Vondre Campbell added a team-high 13 total tackles including 10 solo tackles and an interception in the winning effort.

The San Francisco 49ers will look to build on their 17-11 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in their last game. Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 189 yards and a touchdown on 22 of 30 passing and rushed for 20 yards and a score while Elijah Mitchell rushed for 32 yards and JaMycal Hasty had 38 rushing yards but both left the game with an injury as did rookie running back Trey Sermon with a concussion. Deebo Samuel led the Niners with 6 catches for 93 yards while Jauan Jennings had the Niners’ lone touchdown reception. Defensively, Nick Bosa had a pair of sacks while Fred Warner led San Francisco with 7 total tackles including a team-high 5 solo tackles.

Green Bay is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 September games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. San Francisco is 10-25-1 ATS in their last 36 games as a favorite and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 week 3 matchups while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.

I get the case that could be made for the Niners in this spot, being at home in primetime and Jimmy G and that defense looked pretty good against Philadelphia. However, with their top four running backs on the shelf, I’m concerned that it’ll make San Fran one-dimensional and as bad as Green Bay’s defense has been it’s still not the worst in the league. Plus, Aaron Rodgers in primetime is normally not someone you want to bet against. I’ll take my chances with Green Bay and the points here.
