The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers square off Saturday night in the NFL Divisional Playoffs from Lambeau Field in Green Bay. San Francisco is coming off a victory over the Cowboys in their Wild Card Round matchup over the weekend. As for the Packers, they had a first-round bye after finishing the regular season at 13-4. San Francisco struggled out of the gate this year, going just 3-5 over the first eight games. The 49ers were able to right the ship in Week 10, and finished the year on a nice 7-2 run. In the Wild Card Round matchup last weekend, San Francisco was able to take out the Cowboys to move on in the playoffs.

On Sunday versus Dallas, the 49ers held a 23-7 advantage going into the fourth quarter. After a wild finish that saw the Cowboys miss a chance at a Hail Mary play, San Francisco emerged with a 23-17 win. QB Jimmy Garoppolo finished with 172 yards and a pick. Elijah Mitchell led the rush on 96 yards and a score from 27 carries.

Over on the Packers’ side, they stayed pretty consistent all season in 2021. Green Bay went 13-4 overall with their losses coming to the Saints, Chiefs, Vikings and Lions. The Packers were 8-0 at home as well, earning the top seed in the NFC and home-field advantage.

In their last appearance January 9 versus Detroit, the Packers gave up points in every quarter and ended up falling 37-30. QB Aaron Rodgers finished with 138 yards and two scores, while AJ Dillon rushed for 63 yards on 14 carries. Allen Lazard topped the receivers with five catches for 75 yards and a score.

The 49ers are 8-0 ATS in their last eight games in January and 6-1 ATS in their last seven as an underdog. San Francisco is 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the NFC and 4-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Packers are 4-0 ATS in their last four Divisional Playoff games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight at home. Green Bay is 5-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 9-2 ATS in the last 11 versus the NFC.

PICK: I’m going to try the Packers here. These teams met up all the way back in Week 3 at Levi’s Stadium. That game ended up being a 30-28 Packers win and a pretty balanced affair stats-wise. San Francisco coughed up a couple of turnovers during the game, and Green Bay was able to notch a last-second field goal to get the win. This one’s likely going to be tight as well, and should be another high-scoring game.

Green Bay has posted 30 or more points in six of their last seven games, but they’ve also given up 28 or more points in five of those as well. If San Francisco can get their offense going early I expect these teams to trade punches the whole way, but I like Green Bay to escape with another close win. Should be a great matchup.
