Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Jannik Sinner 9/16/20 Rome Open Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Stefanos Tsitsipas meets the young Italian, Jannik Sinner, in what is going to be a very intriguing second-round encounter here in Rome on Wednesday, September 16th 2020. Will Tsitsipas bounce back after a tough loss at the US Open against Borna Coric, or will Sinner show us why he is regarded as one of the top prospects for tennis?

Jannik Sinner came through what was an easy first-round victory against Benoit Paire on Monday, beating the Frenchman in straight sets. Sinner is such an exciting talent for the world of tennis but I do not see him being able to go deep in these tournaments as big as these just yet. I think the hype has been grand around him, but he needs to find consistency in his game and perhaps focus more on smaller tournaments to get his experience up. However, Sinner is going to be a future champion in many tournaments and he can pose some threats still even at this young age.

Stefanos Tsitsipas will be disappointed with his performance at the US Open, not being able to close out his match against Borna Coric when he has 6 match points. Stefanos is going to be a World No.1 and a future Grand Slam Champion so I think he knows his time will come. Tsitsipas had a great clay court season last year, beating the likes of Rafael Nadal in Madrid and showing us that he is a man for all surfaces. I expect Tsitsipas will come out here looking to bounce back and put on a solid performance.

This is going to be an exact replay of last year’s encounter when these two met here in Rome in the Round of 32. Tsitsipas won that encounter in straight sets and he will look to do the same here. Tsitsipas is the much better player and he wants to bounce back and show us all that he can find increased consistency in his game. Sinner is very talented but his game is nowhere near where it should be if he is to beat the Greek on Wednesday.
