The semifinals of the 2021 ATP Cup are here and we have a stacked line up on either side of the draw! In the tie between Team Italy and Team Spain we have an incredibly entertaining matchup on our hands as Matteo Berrettini meets Roberto Bautista Agut. Will we see another Berrettini domination, or will the incredible return game of Roberto Bautista Agut cause the young Italian to hit a lot of unforced errors?

Matteo Berrettini dominated in his group, beating the likes of Gael Monfils and Dominic Thiem both in straight sets and in incredible fashion. Berrettini is always a tough opponent to come up against as he can either destroy you with his eyes closed, or you can beat him in a very tight matchup. Berrettini was not poised to perform this well in this years ATP Cup, but he definitely showed us all that he is ready for the 2021 season.

Roberto Bautista Agut is one of the toughest opponents to come up against, especially for the likes of Matteo Berrettini who like to win points quickly. RBA makes you play 20+ shot rallies for every single point and he doesn’t give up anything easily. If there is any player I believe could cause some issues for Berrettini in this Team Spain group it would be RBA after Rafael Nadal. RBA knows that his victory here will be a necessity and I am sure he will come out well prepared to get the job done.

This is going to be the 5th meeting between both players, with Matteo Berrettini leading the head to head 3-1. They met twice on a hard court and they are 1-1 in these conditions. Although Berrettini hits the ball much harder, has a much bigger serve, and a superb forehand, he also is a bit impatient in points. Berrettini sometimes looks to finish points off too quickly, and this will only help Roberto Bautista Agut, who will force Berrettini to play long and draining points, which will hurt the game of the young Italian. I believe it will be a very tight encounter, but one RBA should come through.
