Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs. Barbora Krejcikova
June 12, 2021 10:00 am EDT
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (31) meets Barbora Krejcikova in the final of the 2021 French Open on Saturday, June 12th 2021.
Will the usually doubles focused Barbora Krejcikova be able to get her maiden singles grand slam title under her belt in a fairy tale run here in Paris, or will Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova finally get herself to where everyone expected her to be 15 years ago when she first began to make a name for herself in the WTA?
Barbora Krejcikova came through a battle in the semi finals, saving the match so many times when she was down and coming back to get the win under her belt. Barbora is now both in the final in singles and doubles and she has really done a double shit all tournament. This is going to be important for her to ensure she recovers in time because she will now meet a very tough and experienced single opponent in Pavlyuchenkova who will certainly come out here ready to give it her best. Will she shock us all here as she has done all tournament?
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has finally reached a final of a grand slam tournament 15 years after we first saw her make a name for herself. Anastasia is a great player, but she has always fallen down at a hurdle near the quarter finals. Anastasia will know that she is the favourite coming into this final but she will want to ensure she does not put much pressure on herself to ensure she can play her style of tennis. Will she be able to get her maiden grand slam after so many year at the top of the womens game when we all expected her to achieve it sooner?
This is going to be the 1st meeting between both players, and we are in for a very entertaining and tight encounter between the two players who have fought the most all tournament to get themselves into this position. Now it all comes down to who is able to have enough energy to last for a very long time in my opinion, and I think that Barbora has overstretched herself with both the doubles and singles. Pavlyuchenkova will have had more time to prepare for this match both mentally and physically I believe and this will give her the edge to lift the title.
