Second seeded Canadian Denis Shapovalov will face unseeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the Round of 16 of the 2021 Queens Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Thursday June 17th, 2021.

This is sure to be an exciting match between the two left handers Denis Shapovalov and Feliciano Lopez as they prepare for a rematch of their meeting last week in Stuttgart. Shapovalov won on that occasion, but Lopez is the defending champion here at Queen’s and won’t let his title go without a fight. Who will win and advance to the Quarter-Finals here at the 2021 Queens Open?

Denis Shapovalov is the number fourteen ranked player in the world and has long been considered a future superstar. Now finally beginning to live up to that billing, he will be hoping to build on last week’s Quarter-Final run in Stuttgart with a repeat performance here. The Canadian has never had much success on grass on the ATP Tour, which is strange considering the fact that his game style suits the surface, and that he is a former Junior Wimbledon champion. This is set to be yet another difficult match, similar to the one in Stuttgart when Shapovalov defeated his opponent Feliciano Lopez in three sets. While the Canadian is the favorite here, Lopez is one of the best grass court players in modern times and should certainly not be underestimated.

Feliciano Lopez is currently ranked #64 in the ATP world rankings, a full 50 spots behind his Round of 16 opponent Denis Shapovalov. Similar to last week’s meeting in Stuttgart, three sets is a likely scenario and I expect at least one tiebreaker in the match. I do believe that the outcome will be the same however, with Shapovalov now beginning to find his footing on the grass and he should be a bit more comfortable here, advancing to the Quarter-Finals here at the 2021 Queens Open.
