Adrian Mannarino vs Feliciano Lopez

Frenchman Adrian Mannarino will face Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Mallorca Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Thursday June 24th, 2021 at 11:30am EST.

Adrian Mannarino is ranked #42 on the ATP Tour, and is unseeded here at the 2021 Mallorca Open. The Frenchman has been having an inconsistent season, but is a very solid player and a dangerous opponent on all surfaces. He has been in decent form on the grass so far, reaching the Round of 16 at Queen’s, and defeating the in-form Jan-Lennard Struff in the First Round here in Mallorca. He unexpectedly advanced to the Quarters here when Dominic Thiem retired when leading in the Round of 16, and should considered himself lucky to reach this far. Despite being higher ranked than his opponent Feliciano Lopez, he should be considered the underdog here since he has never had much success on this surface.

Feliciano Lopez is unseeded here at the 2021 Mallorca Open, and is currently ranked #64 on the ATP Tour. The Spanish veteran has had a long and successful career that is sadly soon coming to a close. He is approaching the end of his career, but is still a very good player, and has a major weapon in his serve. He has won multiple grass court titles on the ATP Tour, and will be backing himself to do well here. He is coming off a three set win over Karen Khachanov, a match where he dug deep to come away with victory. If he has much left in the tank after that tough three setter, he should be considered the slight favorite against the higher ranked Adrian Mannarino due to the surface.

This is yet another interesting Quarter-Final here at the 2021 Mallorca Open. The lefties have very different styles and builds, and it should be a very close affair. I am going to back the veteran Spaniard Feliciano Lopez to get the win here. He has had much more success on grass over his career than his opponent, and despite his advanced age is still an elite server, and one is that very experienced on this surface. Mannarino is a very solid player and is good enough to take advantage if Lopez doesn’t play well, but I expect him to have tons of problems returning the Spaniard’s serve, and will ultimately fall short here. Feliciano Lopez will win in two tight sets here, advancing to the Semi-Finals here at home in Mallorca.
