Mallorca Open: Roberto Bautista Agut vs. Sam Querrey 6/24/21 Tennis Prediction

Third seeded Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut will face Sam Querrey of the United States in the Quarter-Finals of the 2021 Mallorca Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Thursday June 24th, 2021 at 10:10am EST.

This is an intriguing Quarter-Final match here at the 2021 Mallorca Open between two very different players. Their contrasting styles are sure to make this match a close and interesting one. Can the third seeded Roberto Bautista Agut get the win here to advance to the Semis here at home in Mallorca? Or can the big serving American Sam Querrey continue his recent strong play on grass by causing the upset here?

Roberto Bautista Agut is the third seed here at the 2021 Mallorca Open, and is ranked #10 on the ATP Tour. The Spaniard is one of the most consistent performers on the tour, and very rarely has a bad day or gives matches away. He has been having a down year by his lofty standards, and he wouldn’t have been expecting that to change heading into the grass season, a surface that he has traditionally struggled on. However, he has one career title on grass, so he is not totally uncomfortable here on these courts. He started the season poorly by losing in the First Round in Halle but recovered from that loss to defeat Stefano Travaglia in the Round of 16 here in Mallorca, setting the stage for the clash against Sam Querrey.

Sam Querrey is ranked #60 in the world but has been as high as #10 previously. The American has been outstanding on the grass throughout his career, winning the Queen’s title and reaching the Wimbledon Semis. He has been in poor form for the better part of two years, also suffering with injuries and will be delighted to find some form here on the grass. He had a run to the Semis in Stuttgart, and will be hoping to repeat that achievement here with a win over Roberto Bautista Agut. While his ranking is much lower than his opponent’s, his serve is a major weapon on this surface and he has a good chance of causing the upset.

This is a tough match to all, but I am going with Roberto Bautista here. While Querrey has major weapons and has performed well on grass, he is not quite the player he once was, and RBA will certainly push him to the limit. If the American serves well he has a decent shot, but I expect the Spaniard to be too solid for him. Bautista Agut will win here, advancing to the Semi-Finals here at the 2021 Mallorca Open.
