Wimbledon: Daniil Medvedev vs. Hubert Hurkacz 7/5/21 Tennis Prediction

Daniil Medvedev vs Hubert Hurkacz
July 5, 2021 1:00 pm EDT

Daniil Medvedev (2) meets Hubert Hurkacz (14) in the fourth round of the Wimbledon on Monday, July 5th, 2021.

Will Hubert Hurkacz be able to continue dominating here at Wimbledon where he has not lost a set yet by causing a huge upset or will Daniil Medvedev be able to show us that he has learnt a lot about his grass game from that amazing comeback win against Marin Cilic?

Hubert Hurkacz has not lost a set yet here at Wimbledon, cruising through all of his encounters. His toughest opponent was Alexander Bublik in the third round, but he still did not have any issues, beating him in 3 sets 6-3/6-4/6-2. Hubert Hurkacz has had an amazing year on the ATP Tour, winning his first masters 1000 title and now making it to the second week of Wimbledon. Hubert will know that if he is at his absolute best, he definitely has a chance here against Medvedev, but he needs to not let Medvedev get anything going his way.

Daniil Medvedev was playing so poorly in the first two sets against Marin Cilic in the third round, just not finding his rhythm, length of shot, or consistency throughout the points. However, in the third set, Marin began making some mistakes which he was not making initially and Medvedev took that to build his confidence. Once Medvedev was confident, there was no stopping him and he made the incredible comeback to win in 5 sets 6-7/3-6/6-3/6-3/6-2. Medvedev will be happy that he was able to beat such an experienced grass court player.

This is going to be the 1st meeting between both players, and although Hurkacz has been in great form all tournament, not losing a single set along the way, he will not be able to get the huge upset win under his belt in my opinion. Daniil Medvedev will know what to expect because he is similar to Cilic and he will know how to play him now. Hurkacz might get 1 set under his belt as he is still in great form, but Medvedev will get this win under his belt to get to the quarter finals.
