Wimbledon: Roger Federer vs. Hubert Hurkacz 7/7/21 Tennis Prediction

Roger Federer (6) meets Hubert Hurkacz (16) in the quarter finals of the Wimbledon on Thursday, July 7th, 2021.

Will Hubert back up his biggest career win with yet another career defining win against the best player at Wimbledon ever, or will Roger Federer teach him a lesson and show him that there are still a lot of things he needs to learn about the top of the mens game?

Hubert Hurkacz will be so happy for that rain delay in his fourth round match against Daniil Medvedev because it stopped Medvedevs momentum when he was close to winning the fourth set. Hurkacz came back on Tuesday ready to fight and he was able to shock Medvedev who was not able to find his rhythm fast enough and gave Hurkacz all the points in the world. Hurkacz has played incredibly well this year, winning a masters 1000 title along the way, and he is now going to want to back this up to show that he is definitely someone to look out for in the future.

Roger Federer also put on a show in his fourth round match, beating the in form Italian, Lorenzo Sonego in 3 sets 7-5/6-4/6-2. The match was very tight for the first set or so, but Roger used all of his experience to show us that even with his back against the wall he finds a way out. Roger will be even happier now that the biggest threat on this side of the draw, Daniil Medvedev, is out and he will want to get himself one step closer to the final as when he is in the final he is able to find his best level no matter how good his opponent is.

This is going to be the 2^nd meeting between both players, with Roger Federer having won their only prior encounter. I think that this is the best scenario for Roger as he will be able to not have to fight as much as he was expected to against Daniil Medvedev. Hurkacz is a tough opponent don’t get me wrong, but he is not of the level to beat the big 3 just yet I think. Medvedev has his ups and downs against slightly lower ranked opponents, but when he meets the top players he plays his best so Roger will be very happy he will win this match without having to face him.
