Swiss Open: Casper Ruud vs. Hugo Gaston 7/25/21 Tennis Prediction

Will it be a maiden title on the ATP Tour for the young Frenchman, Hugo Gaston, as he has played superbly all week, or will it be a 4^th title for Casper Ruud as he continues to cement himself as the next big thing on clay, especially in the smaller ATP 250 and 500 tournaments?

Hugo Gaston has been great all week here in Switzerland, causing upset after upset to get himself into his maiden final. Hugo beat the always tough to beat, Laslo Djere, in the semi final 3-6/6-3/6-3. The match was so entertaining to watch and so tight all throughout. There was no real dominant force throughout the match, both players could have won it. However, during the most important points, Gaston was the one who was able to maintain his composure more than Djere. Gaston has nothing to lose here so he will want to play freely.

Casper Ruud is just on a roll at the moment, winning all of his matches now having won 67 matches in a row and only having lost one set along the way. Casper dominated in his semi final match against Vit Kopriva who had been amazing all week, having beat Shapovalov and Ymer easily. Casper won 6-3/6-0 and he showed us that this is his title to win if he continues to play like this. Casper will know that he faces a very tough challenge from Hugo so he will have to be at his best and use all of his recent success to get him over the line.

This is going to be the 2^nd meeting between both players, with it is going to be a very entertaining encounter. Hugo Gaston will have nothing to lose, but he will also be nervous because this is the biggest match of his career so far, and I am unsure whether he will be able to think of it as just another match and play freely. Casper Ruud has been in this position before and succeeded so we will not see any issues on his side of things. It will be entertaining, but Casper is too good not to back here for his second title in as many weeks.
