Cameron Norrie vs Nick Kyrgios
July 29, 2021 9:00 pm EDT

Third seeded Cameron Norrie of Great Britain will face unseeded Australian Nick Kyrgios in the Round of 16 of the 2021 Atlanta. The Match is scheduled to be played on Thursday July 29th, 2021 at 9:00pm EST.

A very exciting match is expected as the flashy Aussie Nick Kyrgios will face Cameron Norrie in the Round of 16 at the Atlanta Open. Kyrgios is one of the most exciting and flamboyant players on tour and excitement seems to follow him wherever he goes. Norrie has been having a career season and is in fantastic form having just claimed his first ever ATP title. Who will get the win and advance to the Quarter-Finals?

Cameron Norrie is the third seed here at the Atlanta Open and has recently broken into the ATP top 30 for the first time, sitting at #29 in the world. He has been extremely consistent this entire year and has taken his game to a new level, reaching four Finals so far in 2021 and just capturing his first title last week at the Los Cabos Open. He won he title without losing a set, and enters this event in the form of his life. While he is the favorite here against Nick Kyrgios, he knows how dangerous his opponent can be and would be wise to not underestimate him here. Norrie does not have the firepower to hit through Kyrgios, but his steady and consistent style is sure to frustrate the Aussie.

Nick Kyrgios is unseeded here at the 2021 Atlanta Open and is currently ranked #58 on the ATP Tour. He has hardly competed over the past two seasons and has seen his ranking drop significantly. However, he remains elite when he is fully focused, and the fact that he is playing such few tournaments has seemingly enabled him to become more focused without the added pressure of competing week in and week out. He was outstanding in his opening round win over the South African veteran Kevin Anderson, winning comprehensively in straight sets. He is the underdog here on paper against Cameron Norrie, but if he plays his best then he certainly is capable of winning here. His serve is a major weapon on this surface and he will be extremely hard to beat here.

This is the third time that the two players have faced each other, each winning one match. Kyrgios won their last meeting in convincing fashion last year at the ATP Cup and will be hugely confident that he will be able to win. It is always difficult to make predictions on matches involving the temperamental Aussie as it is impossible to know what he will do in any given match. However, I am going to back him here. He has seemingly matured with this less hectic schedule, and certainly has the firepower to be able to hit through any opponent. Cameron Norrie is in outstanding form and won’t back down, but he simply cannot compete with Kyrgios if he is locked in. Give me the Aussie in two tight sets, advancing to the Quarter-Finals here at the 2021 Atlanta Open.
