Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz

Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz are two of the best young players on the ATP Circuit and they will face each other in the Round of 16 at the BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday October 13th.

Who will win this match of the two exciting young talents? Taylor Fritz was once the most promising young player on the Tour and that mantle has been taken by the Italian sensation Jannik Sinner. The American is playing on home soil and will be very motivated to do well in front of the crowd. Can he cause the upset over Sinner who is breaking out before our very eyes?

Jannik Sinner has had an incredible run over the past two years and has broken into the top 15 in the world. Already winning four titles at only 20 years old, it is certain that he will soon be in the top 10 and competing for major titles. He has not been pushed much here at the BNP Paribas Open, defeating John Millman 6-2, 6-2 in the First Round and then getting a walkover when John Isner withdrew from their match. He will be fresh and ready to go, and with his huge baseline game he will be very difficult for Taylor Fritz to beat. The American is very experienced so Sinner will need to be careful and ensure that he doesn’t make too many errors as he does at times, but otherwise he is the favorite to win here.

Taylor Fritz was once considered the biggest talent and most promising young player, but he has failed to live up to that title. However, he has still had a very good career, and is capable of very good tennis, although he is quite inconsistent. He has a huge serve and forehand, and I think that he will draw that extra motivation from the crowd, so he will be dangerous here. He is not favored to win here against Jannik Sinner, but don’t count him out, if he serves well he is always in with a chance and now that he has some confidence he can make it interesting.

This is a potentially tricky match for the favorite Jannik Sinner, but I think that he will pass it with flying colours. He is very mature for someone his age and he very rarely has bad days. The only way that I see Taylor Fritz winning this match is if he plays lights out and just blows him off the court, but that is very unlikely since he has been in quite poor form lately and we have not seen those consistent displays from him in a while. It will be an exciting match for the crowd without a doubt, but Jannik Sinner will win in straight sets and will move on to the Quarter-Finals at the BNP Paribas Open.
