Kaja Juvan and Angelique Kerber meet in the final of the 2022 tennis Internationaux de Strasbourg.

Kaja Juvan is coming off a straight set win over Karolina Pliskova that took 20 games to decide. In the victory, Juvan won 70 percent of her first serve points and 58 percent of her second serve points. Juvan won 65 percent of her total service points and converted on four of her four break points. Juvan got 61 percent of her first serves in play and saved four of her five break points. Juvan has won all eight sets this tournament, and she’s coming off her second ever win over a top-10 player. Juvan looks to win her first ever WTA singles title and this is her first ever final appearance. Juvan has won seven of her last nine matches on clay court.

Angelique Kerber is coming off a straight set win over Oceane Dodin that took 14 games to decide. In the victory, Kerber won 71 percent of her first serve points and 50 percent of her second serve points. Kerber won 64 percent of her total service points and converted on three of her four break points. Kerber won a tiebreak in the first set and advanced after her opponent retired one game into the second set. This is quite a turnaround for Kerber, who entered this tournament on a six-match losing streak. Kerber looks to win her first title since last year’s Bad Homburg Open and her 14th title of her career. Kerber is 13-17 in final appearances and 3-1 in final appearances on clay. Kerber has split her last eight matches on clay court.

Juvan beat Kerber in the only meeting, which came in the 2020 French Open. The match was decided in straight sets and 18 games.

Juvan is a live dog in this spot as she’s beaten some quality players to get to this point, she has yet to lose a set this tournament, and she has two wins this year over top-10 players. Juvan also has a mental edge, beating Kerber a couple of years ago on clay. With all that said, Kerber has endless big match experience, while this is Juvan’s first ever final appearance. Nerves are sure to play a role in this contest, and you have to trust Kerber in tight situations. Should be a competitive contest, but I have to give the edge to the German.
