Botic Van de Zandsculp will meet Richard Gasquet in the Third Round of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday July 2nd, 2022.

Botic Van de Zandschulp is the 21st seed here at the Wimbledon Championships. The Dutchman has had a mixed grass-court season so far but has really turned it up a notch here at Wimbledon, looking very impressive. He overcame a stuff challenge from Emil Ruusuvuori in the Second Round after comfortably defeating Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez in the First. The win over Ruusuvuori was particularly impressive given that he came back from a set down to defeat someone that had previously beaten him on grass this season. He has been serving very well and keeping his errors down, and that will have to continue if he is to defeat French veteran Richard Gasquet here.

Richard Gasquet is unseeded here at the Wimbledon Championships and has really been struggling over the past few seasons. However, he has looked good this week, defeating Joao Sousa and Mackenzie McDonald in the first two rounds. While those victories were impressive, he has played nine challenging sets so far, and that may have taken a toll on his body. When he is fit and in form, Gasquet is capable of some great tennis even though he is slowing down a bit these days. Botic Van de Zandschulp is definitely the favorite, but experience counts a lot in Grand Slams, and Gasquet has a boatload of that.

This is the second meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour, with Botic Van de Zandschulp leading the head to head 1-0.

This is going to be a very tough match, regardless of the outcome. Van de Zandschulp has the edge in most categories but has been known to be erratic at times, while Richard Gasquet will be diving deep into his experience to try to get the win here. Each men winning a set seems to be a pretty safe shout, but I am expecting Botic Van de Zandschulp to eventually wear his veteran opponent down. He has spent much less time on the court than Gasquet and it is unlikely that the Frenchman will have enough left in the tank to play yet another long battle. Van de Zandschulp to win in four or five sets.
