Coco Gauff is coming off a quarterfinal loss in San Jose, where she was tripped up by Paula Badosa in straight sets. In the losing effort, Gauff had 6 double faults and was broken 6 times. Gauff still enters this tournament as one of the hotter players on tour, with wins in 13 of her last 17 tries. As long as Gauff is sharper with her serve, she has the ability to push the rest of this field. She is a live dark horse to make a run at a title, as you can currently get her in the +1500 / +2000 range to lift the trophy. Gauff hasn’t lost her opening match since Stuttgart back in April. Brengle has done nothing over the last few months to suggest she can pull an upset here. Honestly, Brengle should just be happy to be here with how things have played out lately. Gauff is one of the hotter players on tour and these fast hard courts really amplify her game. I don’t see why Gauff would have any issues here, given just how poorly Brengle has played as of late.
