Stefanos Tsitsipas will meet Diego Schwartzman in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Western and Southern Open. The match will be played on Thursday August 18th, 2022 at approximately 1:00pm EST.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the fourth seed here at the Western and Southern Open and is ranked 7th in the world. The Greek star has been having a solid but unspectacular season this year and would love nothing more than to finish it strongly. He is still smarting from a First Round loss in Montreal to Jack Draper, and looked solid in his Second Round win over Filip Krajinovic. Serving very well, he dominated the match from the baseline, keeping his error count quite low. Once he has his confidence and is playing well he is a handful on any surface, and he is the big favorite here against Diego Schwartzman.

Diego Schwartzman is the 13th seed here at the Western and Southern Open, and has found the going tough over his first two matches. Back to back three set wins over Alex Molcan and Aslan Karatsev will have taken a lot out of him, but as one of the fittest players on the Tour he should be ready to go for a blockbuster with Stefanos Tsitsipas. Schwartzman is always on the back foot in matches like this as he won’t get many free points with his serve like his opponent, so he will have to work twice as hard. Even though he is the underdog here, he will surely be up for the battle.

This is a tricky match for Stefanos Tsitsipas but I am expecting him to come through here. The difference here will be in the serving, with Diego Schwartzman having to grind through service games and Tsitsipas getting a load of free points and aces. The Argentine is someone that most players love to avoid, but on this surface he is going to struggle with Tsitsipas’ firepower and I am expecting the Greek to move on relatively comfortably.
