Dominic Thiem vs. Dennis Novak – 6/25/20 Austrian Pro Series Tennis Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Dominic Thiem is still travelling all over the place as he returns to the Austrian Pro Series for his only match this week against Denis Novak. Dominic Thiem has tested negative for covid-19 after hearing the news about Grigor Dimitrov’s positive test, and thank goodness for that. Thiem now faces one of his closest friends, Dennis Novak, in what is going to be a very tight match.

Dominic Thiem has been playing on hard courts for the last week at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, and he is going to move back to the clay courts just for one match on Thursday. Thiem has been travelling a lot and it will be interesting to see whether he has the energy or the time to ensure his game is 100%. Thiem might not be at 100% here and this could allow Dennis Novak to potentially have a chance to win.

Dennis Novak has really gone downhill in form since 2019. In 2019, Novak looked like being a solid second option for the Austrian Davis Cup and ATP Cup team. Novak has all the traits which makes a tennis player good. He is tall, strong, has a big serve, and a massive forehand. However, Novak lacks consistency. Novak needs to gain more experience and evolve his game to ensure he can maintain a consistent level of play. Novak should be winning against every player here at the Austrian Pro Series (other than Thiem) in easy fashion. However, it has not been that easy for Dennis who has struggled with form.

Shockingly this is going to be the first meeting between both players and it is going to be a tight one in my opinion. Dominic Thiem, on paper, is the much better player and should win this match with his eyes closed. However, he has been jumping all over the place and not been consistent when doing so. Dennis Novak has been working hard on these clay courts and he will be well-rested for this encounter. In my opinion, Dennis Novak will take a set-off of Thiem, but at the end Thiem will just cross the line.
