Will Marketa Vondrousova be able to beat the much more experienced Belinda Bencic here as she looks to make an even bigger name for herself on the WTA Tour, or will Belinda Bencic continue to gain momentum in her 2021 redemption season?

Marketa Vondrousova is definitely one of the best young talents on the WTA Tour and she has already made some incredible late stages in tournaments, including the Final of the 2019 Roland Garros. Vondrousova is both tall and able to move around the court with great speed. Vondrousova’s time will come on the WTA Tour, but she still has to find consistency in her game, as she currently either has a great week, or a terrible week. Will Vondrousova be able to come in here and cause the upset in the third round?

Belinda Bencic cruised through her second round match, beating Zarina Diyas in straight sets 6-2/6-1 easily. Bencic is definitely gaining momentum and getting back on top of her game, which is great to see as when she is at her best, she is hard to beat. Bencic will know that although she cruised through her second round match, she will have to raise her level even further in the third round against the up and coming Marketa Vondrousova. Belinda has the game and the mentality, but will she be able to get the job done physically?

This is going to be the first meeting between both players, and we are definitely in for an extremely tight encounter between these two. I definitely expect this match to go to the distance as both players will have their ups and downs throughout the match, opening the door for both to win a set. However, at the end of the day, I do expect Belinda Bencic’ experience, determination, and self-belief to allow her to push herself over the edge and make her way to the fourth round of the 2021 Miami Open.
