This shocked us because Karolina has been in amazing form having reached her 2^nd Grand Slam Final recently and also just going far in most tournaments she has played in. Camila Giorgi knows that she will be able to gain a lot of confidence from this match and this is one of the biggest wins in her career, but she cannot let it get to her head as she aims to get another upset under her belt.

Elina Svitolina showed us that she just does not give up even when her back is against the wall here as she came back from a set down against Maria Sakkari, winning 5-7/6-3/6-4. Maria Sakkari started the match off very strongly but Elina was able to just stay close to Maria throughout the match, chipping away at her lead until she eventually got infront. Elina will want to stop having to lose the first set and she needs to begin dominating early on if she wants to have some more success here in Tokyo.

This is going to be the 3^rd meeting between both players, with both of them having won one match against each other. They have not met in a very long time so this is definitely going to be an interesting and tight encounter. Elina should win this match in straight sets if she was at her best, but she is not at her best so Camila can definitely keep things tight.
