Washington Mystics vs. Seattle Storm
June 23, 2022 10:00 pm EDT

The Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics face off on Thursday in a WNBA showdown at Climate Pledge Arena. When these two teams faced off in September 2021 it was the Storm that secured the 105-71 victory.

The Storm comes into this game with a 10-6 record overall, and they are coming off another big win in their last game. The offense put up 81 points against the New York Liberty, and that led to the nine-point victory. The Storm are averaging 78.4 points, while their defense is giving up 76.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 10th in the league, while their defense is ranked second. Breanna Stewart is having a big season, averaging 21.8 points while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from behind the three-point line

On the other side of this matchup is the Mystics, who sit with an 11-8 record overall, but they are coming off a disappointing loss in their last game. The Mystics outscored the Los Angeles Sparks 31-21 in the 4th quarter, but they still ended up losing by two points. Washington is averaging 79.1 points, while their defense is giving up 75.1 points per game. Their offense is ranked 8th in the league, but their defense is ranked 1st, and it’s going to be important the defense is better in this game. Ariel Atkins has been the top player hitting, averaging 15.3 points while shooting 43.2 percent from the field.

These are two teams that are pretty close in terms of starts, but in terms of star power, Seattle has a lot more. I expect a big game from Breanna Stewart and crew, and their defense is going to be solid against the Mystics’ offense. The Storm will pull away late, and Seattle will cover the spread.
