The Los Angeles Lakers play host to the revamped Phoenix Suns at the Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night in NBA action.

The Phoenix Suns will be aiming for their second straight victory after outlasting the Warriors in a thrilling 108-104 road win on Tuesday night. Devin Booker led the team with 32 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Kevin Durant added 18 points with 11 rebounds and three assists, while Jusuf Nurkic chipped in with 14 points, 14 rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Suns shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they leaked 40 points in the third quarter to squander an early 15-point lead, before they clamped down defensively and held the Warriors to just 18 points in the fourth quarter to escape with the gritty victory. The Suns showed signs of their growing pains as they finished with 19 turnovers for the game, but they held the Warriors to just 10 of 43 from the 3-point line which was the difference in a close contest.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting routed by the Nuggets in a 119-107 road loss on Tuesday night. LeBron James led the team with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Taurean Prince added 18 points on six of eight shooting while Anthony Davis chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Lakers shot just 45 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they shook off a sluggish start and clawed their way back into the contest, before they went cold late in the game to allow the Nuggets to pull away. Davis got off to a quick start with 17 points in the first half, only to finish scoreless in the second half.

The Suns will be shorthanded once again as Bradley Beal and Devin Booker are both listed as doubtful, while the Lakers will be without Jarred Vanderbilt. The Suns will be feeling good about themselves after they took down the Warriors in a tough road win on Tuesday, but it’s going to be tough to overcome the loss of Booker as well as Beal. The Lakers didn’t look great in their season opener, but they’re just about at full strength and they are deserved favorites at home in this spot. I’m sure Kevin Durant is going to put up big numbers for the depleted Suns, but I don’t think it will be enough to hold off the Lakers at home. Give me the Lakers to bounce back with a win here behind a big game from Davis.
