Los Angeles Angels Betting Preview

Back on Thursday in the opening installment of this series, the Angels fell into a hole quickly. Los Angeles was down 7-1 by the end of the fourth and limped to a rough 11-3 blowout loss. Luis Rengifo (run) and Mike Trout (solo homer) each had one of the team’s only hits.

For the starting pitcher gig in the Saturday game two, the Angels will send out Griffin Canning. Last season Canning managed a 7-8 record with a 4.32 ERA over 24 games (22 starts). Canning struck out 139 batters in 127.0 innings. He’s got a 19-21 career record with a 4.58 ERA. The Angels will take on the Marlins in a series after this one.

Baltimore Orioles Betting Preview

Over on the Orioles’ side, they had a great offensive outing in the Thursday game and wound up with 10 team hits. Cedric Mullins bagged a homer with three RBI, and Anthony Santander had four RBI alongside one hit. Adley Rutschman posted two RBI with three runs on his two hits.

It’ll be Grayson Rodriguez in the starting role for the Orioles on Saturday. In 23 starts last season (his first) Rodriguez went 7-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 129 Ks in 122.0 innings. That makes 9.52 K/9, 3.10 BB/9 and 1.18 HR/9 overall. Following this series with LAA, the Orioles will play against the Royals.

Baltimore Orioles Team Facts

  • The Orioles have won each of their last seven games against AL West opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Orioles have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four day games following a home win.
  • The Orioles have led after 3 innings in each of their last four games against the Angels.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Orioles’ last three games.
  • The Orioles have led after 5 innings in each of their last seven games against AL West opponents that held a losing record.

Los Angeles Angels Team Facts

  • The Angels have lost seven of their last eight games against AL East opponents.
  • The Angels have covered the run line five of their last six day games against American League opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Angels have lost the first inning in each of their last three day games against AL East opponents.
  • The Angels have led after 5 innings in four of their last six games as underdogs against American League opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Angels’ last four games as underdogs against AL East opponents.

Angels vs Orioles Prediction

I’ll stay with the Orioles in this one. The Baltimore offense played some inspired ball in the Thursday opener of this set, with pretty much everybody getting in on the action. Nine different batters each had at least one hit, and five different players had at least one RBI. If that’s a sign of things to come for the Orioles this year, they’ll be in great shape.

As for Los Angeles, their first three pitchers gave up a combined nine earned runs in the Thursday game. The Angels could only muster a pair of hits and three walks, so they’ve obviously got to get the bats going in game two. I like this one to be closer but I’m still leaning toward Baltimore win-wise.
