The Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox meet Monday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. The Royals just finished up against the Blue Jays, losing Friday by one run. In game two KC lost by four, then in the finale the Royals lost by three runs. As for the White Sox, they took on the Tigers in their last series. Kansas City Royals 

Kansas City blew a late 2-1 lead against the Blue Jays Friday and lost 5-4. In the Saturday game the Royals notched only two team hits (one was an Edward Olivares homer) in a 5-1 loss.  On Sunday Kansas City out-hit the Jays 8-6 but still lost 5-2 (blowing a 2-0 lead along the way). Bobby Witt (two hits; run) and Salvador Perez each had an RBI. 

It’s looking like Brady Singer will take the mound for the Royals on Monday. This year Singer is 8-10 with a 5.34 ERA in 27 starts. Singer is 2-2 with a 4.76 ERA over his last seven starts, striking out 37 in 39.2 innings.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they didn’t have too many issues against Detroit in their weekend opener with a 6-0 win. On Saturday Chicago had just four team hits in a 3-1 loss. In the finale the Sox fell again, this time 3-2. Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez were responsible for the two RBI. 

The White Sox are likely sending out Dylan Cease for the Monday start. So far Cease is 6-7 with a 4.98 ERA in 29 starts. Cease has gone 2-3 with a 7.86 ERA in his last seven starts, posting 30 earned in 34.1 total frames.

I’ll probably stay with the White Sox here, even though they’ve been struggling. Chicago has just three runs over the last two games, but prior to that the Sox had a span of six runs in three straight games (two against the Royals). The hitting should come around. Cease is going to need a good outing, though; he’s just 1-1 over his last three starts with 17 earned runs in 15.2 innings. As for Singer, he’s given up 14 earned in his last three starts. Things could get out of hand on the scoreboard if neither pitcher is on point.
