The Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers meet in MLB action from American Family Field on Sunday.
The Colorado Rockies will look to bounce back from a 10-4 loss at the hands of the Brew Crew on Saturday. Trevor Story had a two-run home run while Brendan Rodgers went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Yonathan Daza went 2 for 3 with an RBI as well to cap off the scoring for the Rockies in the loss while Raimel Tapia and Charlie Blackmon each had a base hit to finish off the Rockies’ offense in the losing effort. Antonio Senzatela gave up two earned runs on seven hits while striking out five over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Carlos Estevez took the loss, falling to 2-1 on the year as a result. Chi Chi Gonzalez will start here and is 2-4 with a 6.12 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gonzalez is 0-0 with a 5.56 ERA and 10 strikeouts against the Brewers.
The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build on their win over the Rockies from Saturday. Christian Yelich had a home run and three total RBIs in the win while Luis Urias had two RBIs and Avisail Garcia went 3 for 5 with a solo home run and a double. Willy Adames had a double and an RBI while Tyrone Taylor and Omar Narvaez each had an RBI as well. Kolten Wong went 3 for 4 with a double while Keston Hiura and Jace Peterson each had a base hit to finish off the offense for Milwaukee in the win. Adrian Houser gave up four runs on five hits while striking out four over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Brad Boxberger got the win in relief to improve to 3-2 on the year. Eric Lauer will start here and is 1-3 with a 5.21 ERA and 41 strikeouts this season. in his career, Lauer is 0-4 with an 8.71 ERA and 21 strikeouts against Colorado.
Colorado is 4-9 in their last 13 Sunday games and 14-44 in their last 58 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Sunday games. Milwaukee is 6-1 in their last 7 game three matchups and 20-6 in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 11-5 in their last 16 games as a home favorite. The over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case you could make either way, but realistically, this starting pitching matchup is a wash for me. Instead, I’m going to side with the over, as both Gonzalez and Lauer have been far from reliable this season and while Colorado’s struggled on the road and Milwaukee have had soft-hitting stretches this year, I think the two sides combine for enough offense to get us over the number here.
