Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Rays posted 13 team hits in the Friday opener of this series, but still ended up losing 10-7 after a dramatic walk-off. In the Saturday game two, Tampa Bay scored five runs in the eighth inning during an 8-6 comeback win. Both Isaac Paredes and Harold Ramirez had two hits. Starter Tyler Alexander posted 4.1 innings with tour earned runs.

In the starting pitcher role for the Rays on Sunday, it’ll be Ryan Pepiot. In his first start of the year versus the Texas Rangers, Pepiot took a loss with 5.2 innings and six earned runs. He’s 5-2 with a 3.21 ERA in 18 career games (11 starts).

Colorado Rockies Betting Preview

Over on the Rockies’ side, they got three hits, two runs, a homer and four RBI (via grand slam) from Ryan McMahon in the big comeback on Friday. In game two the Rockies got two RBI from both Michael Toglia and Brenton Doyle. Ryan Feltner had a good start as well with 6.0 innings, one earned and 10 Ks.

Dakota Hudson will take the mound for the Rockies in game three on Sunday. Hudson took a loss against the Chicago Cubs in his first action of the year, going 5.1 innings with no earned. In 115 career games (80 starts), Hudson is 38-21 with a 3.80 ERA.

Tampa Bay Rays Team Facts

  • The Rays have won seven of their last eight games against National League opponents.
  • The Rays have covered the run line in seven of their last eight road games after playing the previous day.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Rays’ last four road games.

  • The Rays have trailed after 7 innings in four of their last five games as favorites against NL West opponents.

Rays vs Rockies Prediction

I’ll probably stay with the Rays in this one. Pepiot needs to recover from a rough outing in his first start, though. In that matchup he surrendered six earned on four hits and four walks in 5.2 innings for a loss. As for Hudson, he played much better (5.1 innings; zero earned) but took a tough-luck defeat.

On Saturday the Rays were able to crawl out of a 6-1 hole for a miraculous comeback win. The bullpen held up in the last few innings, but it got ugly early. The good news is that Tampa Bay got hits from seven different batters. Everybody but Randy Arozarena (0-for-5) got on base. I like another big effort from the offense on Sunday.
