In this article we will formulate a San Francisco Giants vs LA Angels prediction for this MLB game on Sunday, June 16th at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in the series.

Giants are Staring at a Sweep

The San Francisco Giants are 34-37 this year and they have lost three of their last four games. San Francisco has dropped the first two games in this series and they have allowed 12 runs in the two losses. Prior to this series, the Giants won two out of three against the Astros, won two out of three against the Rangers, and lost two out of three against the Diamondbacks. San Francisco is 5-10 in their last 15 games and they are tied for third in the NL West with Arizona.

The San Francisco pitching staff has a 4.37 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and a .256 opponent batting average. The Giants offense has scored 302 runs with a .246 batting average and a .315 on base percentage. Matt Chapman is batting .234 with eight home runs and 29 RBI’s for the Giants this season. San Francisco is 15th in runs scored this year and they have scored at least four runs in six of their last ten games.

Angels Offense is Hot

The Los Angeles Angels are 28-42 this season and they have won three of their last four games. Los Angeles has won the first two games in this series by scores of 8-6 and 4-3. Prior to this series, the Angels lost two out of three against the Diamondbacks, lost two out of three against the Astros, and swept the Padres in three games. Los Angeles is 7-4 in their last 11 games and they are fourth in the AL West, three games ahead of Oakland.

The Los Angeles pitching staff has a 4.74 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and a .244 opponent batting average. The Angels offense has scored 288 runs with a .239 batting average and a .304 on base percentage. Zach Neto is batting .247 with nine home runs and 28 RBI’s for the Angels this season. Los Angeles is 21st in runs scored this year, but they have scored at least four runs in five of their last six games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for San Francisco is Kyle Harrison, who is 4-3 with a 3.96 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP over 77.1 innings pitched this year. Harrison has allowed three earned runs or more in four of his last five starts, but did allow just one earned run over 6.1 innings against the Astros in his last outing. The projected starting pitcher for Los Angeles is Jose Suarez, who is 1-1 with a 7.08 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP over 34.1 innings pitched this season. Suarez has been a reliever for most of the season, but did allow four earned runs and six hits over 2.2 innings against the Diamondbacks last time out. Suarez has allowed seven earned runs in his last nine innings of work.

Why the San Francisco Giants will win

The Angels have lost six of their last seven road games against NL West opponents following a win.
The Giants have won 10 of their last 12 day games at Oracle Park following a loss.
The Angels have failed to cover the run line in six of their last seven road games against NL West opponents following a win.
The Giants have covered the run line in 10 of their last 13 day games following a loss.
The Giants have led after 3 innings in each of their last three home day games.

Total Runs Facts

Six of the Angels’ last seven road games against NL West opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
Three of the Giants’ last four games after playing the previous day have gone UNDER the total runs line.
The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Angels’ last eight Sunday games.

San Francisco Giants vs LA Angels Prediction

San Francisco had multiple opportunities to score more runs on Saturday, but they couldn’t come through with runners in scoring position and now they are in danger of being swept. The Giants are 19-17 at home, while the Angels are 17-19 on the road so far this year. Los Angeles has played decently well over the last week and their offense has been hitting, but their pitching staff has not been great. The Angels will have Suarez on the mound for this game, who has awful numbers on the season. For the Giants, Harrison has been about average, but he did have a nice start in his last outing. I don’t expect much from Suarez in this game and my San Francisco Giants vs LA Angels prediction is for the Giants to win by at least two runs.
