The Los Angeles Lakers look for three straight against the visiting Sacramento Kings tonight.
Head to head, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings while the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Lakers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400, 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Kings on the other hand are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games.
As weird of a roster as the Los Angeles Lakers have, they are actually pretty fun to watch, especially at home where they have won three of four after taking down the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors 102-95 on Friday night. Following back-to-back home wins over the Detroit Pistons and aforementioned Warriors, the Lakers have now only sit one game behind .500 as eagerly await the return of one Kobe Bryant, who could be back before we know it.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings dropped a heart-breaker against the Los Angeles Clippers last night, falling 103-102 to snap their two game winning streak. After sweeping the Phoenix Suns in their recent home-and-home series, the Kings looked like they were going to continue their winning streak on Saturday as they come back from as many as 20 points down to take a five point lead just a minute remaining. However, Sacramento couldn't hold off Chris Paul and the Clippers as they rallied back to take the lead back for good in what was an entertaining game.
Does it feel like the Sacramento Kings have been the same team for the last five seasons? I don't know about you, but whenever I pick them, they seem to get blown out and when it's the other way around, they always seem to rally and sting me in the ass. So tread carefully with this pick.
While the Kings have been playing better lately, I still don't really trust them against a Lakers team that has won three of four at home against decent competition. Sacramento does have the most dominate player on the court, but Los Angeles is playing great team basketball at the moment and I think that will be the difference tonight...
Dan’s Pick: Los Angeles -4
