The New Orleans Pelicans will have to learn to win without Anthony Davis tonight when they take on the Chicago Bulls.
The Pelicans have won five of their last seven games, but were dealt a tough blow to their season when they lost Anthony Davis to injury in last night's 103-99 win over the Knicks. Davis played just 10 minutes before injurying his hand on the ring while attempting a lob attempt dunk and it has been described as a non-displaced fracture. Despite the injury, the Pelicans were able to keep on playing and eventually pull out the win thanks to 31 points from Ryan Anderson and 24 points from Tyreke Evans who also had seven assists and four steals. With the win, New Orleans improved to a modest 8-8 on the season and 3-5 on the road.

Meanwhile, the Bulls have lost five of their last six and are coming off a disappointing 97-93 loss against the struggling Cavaliers despite 27 points and 11 assists from Luol Deng. Tony Snell and Taj Gibson also added 18 points apiece, but the Bulls just weren't at their best on the defensive end as the Cavs were really pushing the pace and had an interior force named Andrew Bynum who had his best game of the season. Despite how well the Cavs were playing, the Bulls still had several tip-in opportunities to force overtime but the shots just wouldn't drop for them. With the loss, Chicago fall to 7-8 on the season and 2-8 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 5-15 ATS in their last 20 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win, while the Bulls are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and 13-27 ATS in their last 40 against Western Conference opponents.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall but the road team is 7-0 ATS in the last seven meetings.
The Pelicans showed great mettle and composure to pull out the win over the Knicks despite losing their leading rebounder and scorer, but I just feel that they could struggle against the Bulls who are still undefeated at home. Sure, Chicago are really struggling without Derrick Rose, but they're a different team at home, no matter who suits up for them.
