The Houston Rockets hope to bounce back against the lowly Milwaukee Bucks tonight from the Toyota Center.
Head to head, the Bucks are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Houston while the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the underdog is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Rockets are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. loss, but just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400. The Bucks on the other hand are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games, 15-37 ATS in their last 52 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
It's been over a full day and I'm still stunned about the Houston Rockets second half collapse against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night at home. In case you didn't know, the Rockets scored a season-high 73 points over the first two quarters to take a 14-point lead over the Thunder at halftime. Yet, they managed just 19 points, yes 19, in the entire second half as they ended up falling 104-92. Houston shot 19.4 percent and was outscored 45-19 over the final 24 minutes, setting an NBA record for the largest scoring differential between two halves.
How the hell do you score just 19 points in the second half of an NBA game with James Harden and Dwight Howard on your team? And it's not like where talking about the Charlotte Bobcats or even the Detroit Pistons, this is one of the premier offensive teams in the NBA. Between Thursday night's result and having already suffered two 30-point losses on the season, something is clearly wrong with this Rockets squad. Whether it be a lack of leadership or whatever, something isn't right.
The good news, they are facing the league's worst team in the Milwaukee Bucks, a team that has won just seven of their 31 games to date. The Bucks are also winless in the 2014, dropping all seven contest and failing the cover the spread in six of those.
Good spot for Houston to bounce back from that embarrassing loss on Thursday night. Milwaukee are just terrible and it's rare when they don't lose a game by double-digits these days. Look for the Rockets to have a strong game and put this one away early...
