The New Orleans Pelicans will be hoping to kick off their three-game road trip with a win over the Brooklyn Nets tonight.
The shorthanded Pelicans have won six of their last eight games and are coming off a nice 98-91 win over the Timberwolves despite trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter. Anthony Davis led the team with 26 points and 10 while battling against Kevin Love, while Eric Gordon continued his strong form with 20 points on eight of 15 shooting. Brian Roberts also had 16 points and six assists while making a couple of clutch jumpers late in the game as the Pelicans outscored the Wolves by 37-20 in the fourth quarter. On a side note, Davis was selected for his first All-Star game and will take the place of the injured Kobe Bryant.

Meanwhile, the Nets have lost four of their last six and will still be licking their wounds after getting trounced by the Pistons by 111-95 on Friday. Jason Terry made six threes on his way to a team-high 18 points while Joe Johnson added 16 points, but this game was well over by halftime as the Nets fell behind by as many as 23 points in the first half and 29 in the third quarter. The Nets just didn't match the pace and level of urgency that the Pistons played with and got burned on possession after possession. Luckily, Brooklyn play their next two games at home where they've won two straight, including a 103-89 win over the Spurs.
In ATS trends, the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, while the Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings overall and 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Brooklyn.
The Pelicans come into this game quietly confident while the Nets will be eager to bounce back from an embarrassing loss with a win here so this game should be a cracker. I'm looking for this game to be a close one but I actually think the Pelicans could even win this one so I'll be taking them with the points in this one.
