The Phoenix Suns collide with the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night with playoff implications on the line.
Head to head, the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Suns are 36-14-1 ATS in their last 51 games playing on 1 days rest and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Southwest. The Grizzlies on the other hand are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 road games, 0-8 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
I'm going to assume that the Memphis Grizzlies take care of the Los Angeles Lakers at their place on Sunday night, which would put them a whole game a head of the Phoenix Suns in the race for the last playoff berth out West. The Grizzlies also own the tie-breaker over Phoenix, having won and covered in all three meetings this season. The Suns aren't a big physical team, so it's easy to see why they struggle against probably the best front court in the entire NBA. Memphis has had their way on the boards over this smaller Phoenix outfit, pulling down 30 more rebounds over the three contests so far this season.
As far as individual form goes, the Suns are coming off two tough road losses in San Antonio and Dallas while Memphis has won four of their last six overall. Having said that, the Grizzlies have struggled from a betting stand point lately, failing to cover the spread in each of their last seven road games and seven of 10 overall. On the other hand, Phoenix remains the premier against the spread team in the entire league, going 51-28-1 ATS this season.
There's no denying that Memphis have owned Phoenix so far this season, but it's pretty hard to sweep a good team 4-0 in the NBA. The Grizzlies are also coming off a game last night in Los Angeles and this will be their third outing in the last four nights. Being in front of their fans and with everything to play for, I think the Suns get the win and cover tonight, but just...
